This is just terrible to hear... Turntabilst and longtime Slipknot member Sid Wilson has just been fired according to the most trusted source on the internet, metal Instagram pages. Now should you trust what these guys say? Not really, they will take their chance promoting gambling, OnlyFans or gift cards if it means they'll get money, but i still think this is real enough to talk about
Now, Slipknot... Nu metal legends, one of the most popular and longest standing bands in the genre, been making music for nearly 30 years and are arguably very iconic with the mask and all the members... Except there won't be any more fucking memebers if they keep firing everyone! I've seen a pretty funny image that says "all band is gone" edited onto their album All Hope is Gone. Now, I'm not the biggest Slipknot fan. My friend is, he has shirts and pins and shit. I still respect them, they're one of the heaviest bands that newcomers can get into if they wanna start listening to metal. Their fan base is something i tend to stay far away from, idk how to explain it but they have a tendency to attract weirdos. Anyways I used to listen to them, the album i mentioned earlier was one that i really liked listening to, there's some pretty good songs like Psychosocial, Gematria, Snuff, etc. Now, back to the firing and controversy.
Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor and uh clown i guess Shawn Crahan (seriously what does this guy do?) have always said shit like "The band is a family" and "We're always together" but they are quick to fire many of their members. Shit, i would say they haven't been a family for 15 years now. It kinda started, i would say, when they fired drummer Joey Jordison (RIP) in 2013 despite the fact he was there since the beginning, and then they had the audacity to lie and say he "left due to personal reasons". There's also them parting ways with sampler/keyboardist Craig Jones, and while i can't find much info on what caused this at the moment, I will guess it wasn't anything nice either. Then there's Chris Fehn who filed a lawsuit against the band in 2019 and left a few weeks later. There are interviews online and the guy just looks depressed and he says how he was just abused and "never got any love"
And then we get to Wilson, who was fired yesterday and everyone is quick to poke fun at the band (as they should). I wanna clarify none of this was really confirmed, mainly because some of the members are leaving 'cryptic' messages about this... Yes, grown ass adults are trying to act mysterious by leaving cryptic writings on Instagram stories, fuck off man this is embarrassing. Someone said it's now just a bunch of dudes communicating through a lawyer and i can't agree more!
